DevMate end of life

It has been over a year since Paddle and DevMate joined forces. Since then, we’ve been working hard to integrate and unify our platforms. In this time, we’ve also been talking with developers about what they need, and it’s become clear that we would have to extensively redesign the DevMate platform to meet their new challenges and deliver the innovation they expect.

Why did we take this decision?

Thank You

Does this affect me?

Yes, if you are using DevMate, this decision affects all DevMate customers.

Will this affect people that bought my software?

Your buyers won’t notice any change to their experience with your software. Buyers with a current subscription will continue to be charged for the product after December 16th 2019 - their subscriptions will not be cancelled.

After the majority of the DevMate platform is retired, you will be able to use the remaining parts of the platform to manage:

  • first-time activation of keys already issued
  • continued verification of buyer keys / activations which are in use
  • expiry of key validity should a subscription payment not be made blocking licenses
  • increasing the number of activations allowed on a specific key
  • resetting the number of activations associated with a key to zero
  • searching for customer records using name, email or license key

What are my options?

Depending on your usage of DevMate features like crash reporting, feedback, licensing and distribution, you will need to find other solutions to support future releases. If you would like assistance or more information, please get in touch.

Software licensing

If you are using DevMate to distribute one-time software licenses or would be interested in moving your software to a subscription model, we recommend you check out Paddle

For our customers using DevMate to distribute licenses, you will be able to use the remaining parts of the platform to manage existing licenses.

Release management

After December 16th 2019, it will not be possible to use DevMate release management to distribute your software. If you need help with migrating to another service, please get in touch.

What support will be available?

After the platform is retired on December 16th 2019, we will continue to support you to resolve critical issues affecting the activation and verification of license keys.

From the end of your current billing period until the final shutdown date on December 16th 2019, the DevMate platform will be free to use. We will cancel existing subscriptions to ensure you are no longer charged.

What about my existing subscription with DevMate?

Important Announcement

Dear DevMate customers,

Paddle and DevMate joined forces in 2017 as our platforms covered the many different aspects which software developers needed to manage, release and distribute their software. Our ambition was to merge the platforms and give developers a seamless, integrated experience.

However, with recent changes in the way that software businesses manage their applications, it has become clear that reproducing DevMate capabilities in Paddle would not best support their needs for the future. As a result we have taken the decision to close the DevMate platform.

On December 16th 2019, the majority of the DevMate platform and software suite will be retired. After this date, there will be no new product features and no ability to generate new licenses. Existing licenses will continue to work; you will be able to manage existing licenses securely through the remaining parts of the DevMate platform, and we will continue to provide essential technical support.
